ChargeBuddy.ai is operated by Lissjos Engineering LLC, based in San Diego, CA. We provide a free tool that helps electric vehicle drivers find and compare EV charging station prices.

Information We Collect

ChargeBuddy.ai is designed to work without requiring a user account. We collect minimal information:

  • Browser Geolocation: We request your location only with your explicit permission through your browser's built-in location prompt. This is used solely to show nearby charging stations. Your location data is not stored beyond your current browsing session.
  • Crowdsourced Reports: If you choose to submit a price report, it is collected anonymously. No personally identifiable information is attached to crowdsourced submissions.
  • Cookies: We use cookies for analytics purposes only, to understand general usage patterns and improve the service.

No User Accounts Required

ChargeBuddy.ai does not require you to create an account, sign up, or provide any personal information to use the service. You can access all features without registration.

Third-Party Services

We integrate with the following third-party services to provide our functionality:

  • NREL API (U.S. Department of Energy): Used to retrieve charging station data from the Alternative Fuel Stations database. No user data is sent to NREL.
  • Open Charge Map: Used as an additional source of charging station data. No user data is sent to Open Charge Map.
  • OpenAI: Used for AI-powered pricing analysis and normalization. No user data is sent to OpenAI; only station pricing strings are processed.
  • Google Maps: Links to Google Maps are provided for navigation to charging stations. These are external links and are subject to Google's own privacy policy.

Data Storage

No location data is stored beyond your current browsing session. We do not maintain user profiles, location histories, or tracking data. Crowdsourced price reports are stored anonymously without any connection to individual users.
